Get In My Belly!!

I shouldn't complain about not being plagued with morning sickness. My last symptoms post was that I had  food aversion and was full very quickly from food. It has changed a bit from that - last week I couldn't get enough food in me to feel full! Last week I was trying to be good and bring my lunch box to work to eat good snacks and eat regularly to not get famished. For 3 days in a row my lunchbox was EMPTY by noon, and I typically work until 6pm so it would make for very long afternoons, so I would have to go out and get ADDITIONAL lunch! And it wasn't a fake hunger, I started to get the hunger headaches and light headed as if my last meal had been 5 hours prior. Nonstop chowing, Get In My Belly!! Luckily still no morning sickness or throwing up, just a little stomach queasiness that goes away with the right snacks. 9 weeks pregnant and no barfing, I'll take it! I don't know if pregnancy symptoms are a genetic thing but my terrific mother said she often felt nauseous but never actually threw up through pregnancy. I hope to follow that! (However she also said she gained 50 pounds with her first pregnancy with 1 baby...I hope I don't follow 2x that!)

Since last Friday the chow-fest has subsided. I ate appropriate amounts this past weekend and today at work. I am nervous because this week is my first flight traveling week since I've been pregnant so I have an assortment of snacks in my luggage as well so I don't get hit with the hunger bug on the airplane or alone in the hotel room. I've found that Luna Bars and Cliff Bars are fantastic at immediately quenching the hunger and hitting my need for sweets and candy. Luna Bars are especially good since they are made for women and include extra folic acid which is great for baby development.

I also broke down and bought a few maternity options. I can easily wear dresses and some of my work pants but jeans are getting snug and my preferred work clothes are getting snug. I bought 3 pairs of clearance maternity pants at Ross - basic black work pants with the full belly panel. All 3 pairs of pants for a total of $22! Can't beat it! I also bought the "BeBand" which I still can't figure out how to comfortably wear but it is an elastic band to wear over unbuttoned pants while a pregnant woman expands, much for those "in-between" phases. It's difficult to wear because to stay secure I need to pull it down past the pockets, and then my shirt won't cover it and it sticks out and doesn't blend in. It's been a weekend staple though.

My dear husband has been even more caring and generous than usual. I feel guilty being so lazy so early on, it will only get worse, but he enjoys it (so he says). Hopefully I will get a renewed boost of energy in a few weeks so I can pitch in around the house more and not fall asleep at 8 every night. Todd continues to read the baby books, we follow our daily "How my Baby is Growing" calendar, and researches baby items and twins items every night while watching TV. He is more anxious and impatient than I am which is an incredible feat. We still think we can pull off not finding out the sexes of the babies until they are born - we'll see how long we are able to manage that!

Next visit with the doctor is on Friday, we have our FINAL visit with Dr. Mayer and the IVF group before being released to a general OB/GYN. We should get another sonogram, hear the heartbeats, and get updated measurements. Hopefully the babies will look a little more like babies and a little less like alien blobs.  It will be sad, he has been so great and has helped create a miracle. I can't be selfish and want him to continue being our doctor, there are other couples out there that will be blessed with his time and talent and I am willing to let him go for others to experience this joy as well. We're going to stick with the USF medical group since we've been with them the whole way, which would mean we would have the babies at Tampa General...very appropriate to be conceived and delivered in the same hospital :)

Go Bulls!
