"Ga-gong, Ga-gong"

Today was our next ultrasound appointment. I have to admit that I was very nervous to go - so early in a pregnancy so many things can happen. And although I had pregnancy symptoms, I wasn't sure if it was symptoms for one or symptoms for two. So we went in, assumed the sonogram "position" and Dr Mayer went to work and found that both babies are growing well, they are both relatively the same size, and we saw and heard heart beats for both of them in isolation. It was a sigh of relief for me and just an overwhelming experience to see these two little flickers within the bean and know that is the heartbeat. Here's the best picture that Dr Mayer could get of the two of them (and my little piggies don't look like piggies anymore):

You can see that both babies are sitting on the right side wall of their gestational sacs.

So once he confirmed that they were both there, he took measurements called the "Crown to Rump" to determine how big they are which would confirm how far along in development they are as well. Both of them measured about the same, a tiny 1.2cm!  And he was able to confirm we are 7 weeks 3 days along in growth which would be about a late August due date.

Finally, the most important part to me, was that Dr Mayer isolated each one and showed us on the screen the tiny little flicker that is the heartbeat. And then he was able to play it out loud and actually be able to tell how many beats per minute there were for each one. I'm in complete amazement that a 1cm baby has an audible heartbeat!! I think even Mr. non-Emotional got choked up when all of that played.

We are so truly blessed I don't even have words.
